Start your journey at the Basilica of Saint Clement, where you will venture deep underground to discover ancient pagan temples and an underground river. Explore the 4th Century Basilica built on top of St Clement’s house, and then ascend to the impressive 12th Century Basilica with stunning golden mosaics. Visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran, known as the “Mother and head of all churches on Earth,” to learn about Emperor Constantine and St. Helena’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Experience on-site assistance throughout the tour and enjoy the beauty of the churches while learning about the history and symbolism behind the artifacts. Wear appropriate attire to enter the churches, and wear comfortable walking shoes as a moderate amount of walking is involved. This tour is limited to 8 participants and is not wheelchair-accessible.
