Adventure Details

Experience a thrilling 3.5-hour boat adventure starting from Icy Strait Point, where you will be taken on a scenic drive through the Alaska Native Tlingit village of Hoonah. Travel along old logging roads to reach a remote river in the Tongass National Forest on Chichagof Island, where you will have the opportunity to fish for Salmon and/or Trout. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way, as the island is home to a high concentration of brown bears. Once at the river, gear up in provided waders and set off to fish in the picturesque surroundings. Depending on the season, witness salmon spawning and forage for wild berries. You can choose to stay in one spot or explore different fishing holes along the river. After an exciting day of fishing and wildlife spotting, return to town via the old logging roads, with drop-off at either Icy Strait Point or your desired location in Hoonah. Please note that all fishing guests aged 16 and older are required to have a fishing license, which can be easily purchased online for $15. It is recommended to purchase the license before the trip date. Remember to bring essential items such as a rain jacket, warm socks, and polarized sunglasses. Waders will be provided, but guests with larger shoe sizes or wider calves may need to bring their own boots/waders. Contact the tour operator to adjust the start time or accommodate larger groups with advance notice. - Exciting 3.5-hour boat adventure in the Tongass National Forest - Opportunity to fish for Salmon and/or Trout in a remote river - Chance to spot wildlife, including brown bears, along the way TLDR - 3.5-hour boat adventure from Icy Strait Point to a remote river in the Tongass National Forest - Fishing for Salmon and/or Trout with the possibility of spotting wildlife like brown bears - Fishing license required for guests aged 16 and older; essential items to bring include rain jacket and warm socks
