Experience a casual and family-friendly float down the lower section of the Pigeon River with Rafting in the Smokies. Accompanied by a friendly and professional river guide, you and your loved ones will enjoy a 2-hour journey through calm Class I and Class II rapids. No experience is necessary, as life jackets and helmets are provided for all participants age 3 and older. During the 6-mile trip, you can expect gentle waves and bumpy splashes as you navigate the river with a maximum of 7 people per raft plus a guide. Safety is a top priority, with trained guides in every raft and adjustable PFDs that fit up to 56 inches. The Pigeon River is dam-controlled with scheduled water releases from Memorial Day through Labor Day, rain or shine, making it a reliable adventure destination. Located just off I-40 near the Tennessee/North Carolina border, the Rafting in the Smokies Pigeon River Outpost is easily accessible from popular tourist areas like Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Knoxville, TN, as well as Asheville, NC. In addition to the river trip, enjoy free amenities on the 10-acre family adventure island, including a nature trail, picnic area, and playground.
