Experience the magic of a sunset wildlife paddle at Ray Roberts Johnson Branch Park, where you will paddle through a remote cove to the main body of the lake and islands, covering approximately 3 miles in 2 hours. As the sun sets, the park is bathed in a warm, golden glow, creating a peaceful and calming atmosphere. Keep an eye out for playful otters, deer, raccoons, squirrels, and a variety of bird species such as eagles, ospreys, herons, and egrets. The islands surrounding the park provide a lush green backdrop for your paddle, offering a peaceful refuge for wildlife and adding to the natural beauty of the area. While the park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including elusive creatures like bobcats and coyotes, the highlight of the paddle is often the sightings of playful otters splashing and diving in the water. With the chance to witness these adorable creatures in their natural habitat, the sunset wildlife paddle is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers. In addition to the wildlife sightings, participants will receive a free whistle and flashlight, and are encouraged to be responsible for park fees. This guided wildlife paddle is designed to be a social and easy paddle, but participants should be prepared for changing conditions. Children as young as 6 years old and 48 inches tall are welcome, with life jackets required for those 13 and under. The event is not-for-profit, with proceeds benefiting the purchase of winter coats for kids in need through the Little Elm Food Bank.
