This 7-mile springtime run offers breathtaking scenery and exciting rapids, making it a must-do for experienced boaters. The run includes notable rapids such as Bloomer Falls, Air Plane Turn, Cascade, Achilles Heal, Last Chance, and Freight Train, providing constant action and a true classic experience on the Cal-Salmon river. The trip begins at the USFS Butler Ledge river access and ends at Oak Bottom or Big Ike, offering a challenging and rewarding journey for those seeking an adrenaline-filled adventure. Participants on the Nordheimer boat adventure can expect a fast and furious start with the "miracle mile" rapid, followed by continuous action through the Gapping Maw and down to Wooley Creek. The run showcases a big water Class IV character with two larger rapids sprinkled in, testing the skills and experience of boaters. With a minimum age requirement of 17+ for Nordheimer and 14+ for Butler, previous paddling experience is highly recommended to fully enjoy and navigate the rapids along this thrilling stretch of the Cal-Salmon river.
