Embark on a 4.5-hour adventure starting at the Queimadas Forest Park in Santana, located 980 meters above sea level. Surrounded by the lush Laurissilva Forest, this hike offers a chance to explore a variety of plant species, including the Stinklaurel and Laurel trees. Keep an eye out for bird species such as the Chaffinch and Firecrest as you traverse the scenic Levada trail, passing through four natural tunnels before reaching the stunning Caldeirão Verde waterfall and lagoon. This moderate difficulty hike covers a distance of 13 km, with the highest point at 980m and the lowest point at 890m. Led by an official Mountain Guide, the excursion includes transportation and insurance as required by Portuguese law. For an extra fee, guests can opt for a picnic lunch with options such as ham and cheese sandwiches, chicken salad, tuna salad, or a veggie pack, each including a bottle of water, juice, fruit, and chocolate to fuel your journey.
