The hike covers a distance of 4.8 km each way, with a duration of 13 hours and a moderate to difficult level of difficulty. The trail starts and finishes at Eagle's Nest, with the lowest point at 0 m and the highest point at 741 m above sea level. The trip consists of ascending 4444 wooden stairs and descending on a marked trail, making it suitable for hikers with some experience. Hikers are advised to come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather conditions, with hiking boots or trail running shoes recommended. It is important to bring enough water to stay hydrated throughout the trip, as there may not be opportunities to refill containers. Lunch is not provided, so hikers are encouraged to bring their own. Each hiker is responsible for carrying their own gear, so a suitable backpack is recommended for the journey. The proposed standard schedule for the guided hike to Kjerag includes a pick up at 5:00AM from your accommodation and a drive to the boat terminal in Lauvvik. From there, a ferry trip to Flørli provides scenic views of Pulpit Rock from below. The Flørli Hydroelectric Power Station serves as the starting point for the hike, with time at the top to enjoy the view and have lunch. The descent follows a historic track used by the "Rallar" when building the dam at Ternevatnet.
