The tour begins at the meeting point in front of the Astória hotel or at a prearranged location, where bikes are provided. It is recommended to follow marked routes such as the Carmelite Route to the Ruins and the Portuguese Central Way on the return journey. The total biking distance is approximately 34 km round trip, with a significant elevation gain of 700D+. Conímbriga, designated a National Monument since 1910, is a prominent archaeological site from the Roman period in Portugal and a popular tourist attraction. The origins of Conímbriga date back to a Celtic fort belonging to the Conii tribe, eventually falling under Roman rule in 139 BC. The city was partially sacked by the Suevi between 465 and 468, leading to a decline in urban life until its abandonment in the Medieval period. The Conímbriga Monographic Museum, established in 1962, manages the ruins, showcases archaeological findings, and supports ongoing research at the site.
