Departing from the Alaska Glacier Lodge, this boat adventure offers a unique experience to explore the Knik Glacier in the Mat-Su Valley. The 30-minute round trip flight provides stunning views of the Chugach Range, Knik Glacier, Colony Glacier, and more. Upon landing on the Knik Glacier, guests can spend approximately 30 minutes on the ice, exploring features such as blue lakes, crevasses, and ice sculptures with the guidance of a pilot/guide. During the winter months, the glacier landing is next to the glacier due to snow cover. The Knik Glacier, originating from Mount Marcus Baker, is one of the largest glaciers in South Central Alaska, stretching over 25 miles long and more than 5 miles wide. Visitors can witness vertical ice walls rising out of the lake, dotted with icebergs calving off Colony Glacier. The tour also offers the chance to fly down the Great Gorge of the Knik, a National Landmark known for its breathtaking beauty. Wildlife sightings such as moose, Dall sheep, and sometimes bears add to the unforgettable experience. For a memorable adventure, guests are advised to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure time and bring essential items such as sturdy footwear, warm layers, sunglasses, and an empty water bottle for glacier water. Prohibited items include bear spray, lighters, and loaded guns. A photo package add-on is available, allowing guests to receive candid shots and footage of their tour.
