Embark on a 3-hour adventure to Blue Springs State Park, where you will have the opportunity to observe one of Florida's largest populations of manatees in their winter home. Led by a Florida Master Naturalist, you will learn about the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit this wild area. During peak migration months, you may even have the chance to paddle up close to the protected refuge and watch the manatees wake up and float under your kayaks as they search for their morning meal. In the warmer months, when most manatees have returned to the main river and ocean, you will have the chance to swim, snorkel, and explore the head spring. Keep an eye out for other wildlife such as otters, gators, bald eagles, osprey, and red shoulder hawks as you paddle along the river. For those with extra time, a visit to snake creek and dead river will provide a unique and off-the-beaten-path experience. This tour is perfect for bird watchers, animal lovers, and anyone looking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in nature. To reach Blue Springs State Park, take I-4 east towards Daytona Beach and follow the signs to the park located on French Ave. Continue past the park to the boat ramp where your guide will be waiting. Remember to use the last public restroom at Valentine Park before heading to the park.
