Adventure Details

Embark on an exciting 4.5-hour wreck dive adventure to explore the famous Vandenberg wreck, the world's second largest artificial reef. The retired naval ship, USNS General Hoyt S. Vandenberg, was intentionally sunk in 2008 to create Key West's newest and largest artificial reef. Located approximately 6 miles SSE of Key West in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, the Vandenberg lies in 140 feet of water with a maximum depth of 100 feet, making it an Advanced Dive that requires Advanced Certification and/or a Guide for maximum safety. To participate in the Vandenberg wreck dive, all Scuba Divers must have been diving within the past year and be at least 15 years old. Divers with Open Water certification must be guided, while Advanced Open Water Divers and higher have the option to be guided for an additional fee of $45 per person. For ease of diving and safety, a line descent system is set up using a traverse line to the main mooring line to the wreck, ensuring a smooth and organized diving experience. Don't forget to bring your certification card if applicable for the Vandenberg wreck dive located at 606 Front Street in Key West, FL 33040. Immerse yourself in the underwater world and witness the beauty of this artificial reef that is home to a diverse range of marine life.
