Departing from Tata Beach, you will have the opportunity to explore the untouched wilderness of Golden Bay, following in the footsteps of Abel Janszoon Tasman who first anchored in Murderers Bay in 1642. With no crowds to distract from the natural surroundings, this is a perfect experience for those seeking a true wilderness adventure. To participate in this unique kayaking experience, you must be at least 14 years old and have previous kayaking experience. You should also be comfortable in the outdoors, able to read a map, and confident in your ability to handle yourself in the elements. Safety is paramount, and you will be provided with a comprehensive safety briefing, life jackets, paddling equipment, and a dry bag. With the wind at your back, you can paddle the full length of the national park, finishing at either Totaranui or Marahau. Be prepared for your adventure by bringing suitable clothing for kayaking, a waterproof jacket, warm clothing, snacks, water, a camera, first aid kit, and a cellphone. With convenient access from Takaka, Motueka, and Nelson, you can easily plan your trip to the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park.
