Experience the exhilarating hike to Kjerag and stand on the famous boulder overlooking the breathtaking Lysefjord. With a distance of 4.5 km each way and a duration of 13 hours, this moderate to difficult hike offers hikers the opportunity to reach heights of 604 m above sea level. The trail is well signposted with red T's and cairns, but hikers should be prepared for slippery rocks and possibly snowy patches. Chain railings are in place for safety, but previous hiking experience and good physical condition are recommended. Hikers should come prepared with appropriate gear, including hiking boots or approach shoes, warm and waterproof clothing, and plenty of water for hydration. Lunch will not be provided, so bringing your own lunch is suggested. Each hiker is responsible for carrying their own gear, so a suitable backpack is recommended. The hike starts and finishes at the Eagle's Nest, with a standard schedule including a 7:15 AM pickup from your accommodation in Stavanger and a return around 6:00 PM. Enjoy the stunning views and natural beauty of the Kjerag plateau, with opportunities to take photos, enjoy lunch, and maybe even witness BASE jumpers diving from cliffs into Lysefjorden. The drive from Stavanger to the trailhead offers scenic views of the surrounding area, adding to the overall experience of the adventure.
