Discover the beauty of North Kohala on the Kohala Waterfalls Adventure, where guests can explore private waterfalls, streams, coastlines, and valleys. The adventure begins with an off-road drive to an exclusive trailhead, followed by a guided walk through a private nature reserve. Enjoy a refreshing swim under cascading waterfalls and learn about ancient Hawaiian agricultural sites along the way. A private picnic lunch with stunning views is included at one of the island's best scenic lookouts. This 6 to 7-hour adventure is rated as easy and departs daily from various locations including Hawaii Forest & Trail Headquarters, Waikoloa Queen’s Marketplace, Shops at Mauna Lani, and Kohala Zipline Headquarters. Guests will be provided with a deli-style lunch, assorted beverages, sunscreen, bug spray, towels, walking sticks, and rain jackets. It is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes or reef walkers, a bathing suit, hat, sunscreen, a light jacket or sweatshirt, and bring a reusable water bottle. Guests should be prepared to hike on uneven or rocky terrain and potentially encounter cool, wet, or muddy conditions. The hike covers approximately 1 mile over 1.5 to 2 hours with minimal elevation gain. The water temperature in the pool for swimming can vary between 60 and 70 degrees F depending on the season and rainfall.
