The U.S. Mailboat Cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee provides a unique opportunity for passengers to experience the tradition of delivering postal mail to the lake's summer island residents. The M/V Sophie C, launched in 1945, offers a two-hour cruise visiting various islands while the Skipper shares interesting facts about the area. Passengers can interact with island residents who often come to the dock to greet the boat and purchase snacks or souvenirs. Seating on the M/V Sophie C is first come, first served with both indoor and outdoor options available. The cruise is popular, so passengers may be asked to adjust seats to accommodate others. The boat is not wheelchair accessible, but alternative arrangements can be made on the M/S Mount Washington for passengers with mobility concerns. Rates for the cruise are $46 for adults, $36 for children, and free for babies under 3 years old. Passengers are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to boarding to find parking and secure tickets. Metered and paid parking lots are available at Weirs Beach. For the safety and comfort of all passengers, smoking is not allowed on the vessel. Snacks, soft drinks, and ice cream treats are available for purchase on board, as well as a gift shop with souvenirs. The Sophie C also serves as a floating post office, offering postcards for purchase and mailing with a unique cancellation stamp. Your payment method will be charged a damage deposit of USD 0.00 24h prior to your rental. Pending any damages, the damage deposit will be returned 48h post rental. This damage deposit secures the host if the boat is damaged during your rental. The damage deposit must be taken from the same card that the booking was made on. Questions?
